MYST

For my Myst post I watched a movie with one of my favorite actors Gerard Butler.  My Last MYST post was with Gerard Butler as well but this time it was in the movie "Olympus Has Fallen"
This movie came out March 22nd 2013 so its a pretty new movie.  "White House Down" is a Movie that has pretty much the same plot that came out June, 18, 2013.  I saw both of these Films and i will have to say i definitely liked Olympus Has Fallen more.  In both movies the plots are identical basically where someone makes an attack on the White House trying to harm the president.  The reason i liked Olympus Has Fallen better is because Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart's acting.  They were the president and body guard in Olympus Has Fallen, i liked them more as characters because they made the story more believable and more serious. And thats the attitude both movies tried to have, like a serious drama.  But in White House Down Channing Tatum and Jamie Fox didn't really fulfill that attitude for me, at some points it felt like a comedy where as white house down stuck to the plot and story the whole time.
On IMDb.com they rated Olympus Has Fallen a 6.4 out of ten and they rated White House Down a 6.3 which i believe is an accurate comparison in ratings because they were both good but i thought OHF was a little better. But I do disagree with IMDb's rating, I gave Olympus has fallen 8/10 stars there wasn't really any boring scenes or anything so i didn't feel the need to deduct any stars also it kept you on your toes the whole movie and was action packed.
All the scenes in OHF that weren't shot in the White House were shot in Louisiana, but most of the movie was filmed in Washington DC, and in the actual White House which i thought was pretty cool.  The movie looked realistic because it was in was in the actual White House.  But a lot of the scenes around the white house depended on computer-generated imagery because they physically couldn't blow up and destroy the white house like they did in the movie or take down the washington memorial with a plane. Also something interesting about the filming was  that some of the shots were done by Morgan Freemen who was also in the movie.

There wasn't really just one key scene that stuck out to me but what i will remember was all of the scenes where Gerard Butler was moving around in the white house taking down the north Korean terrorist's and because he worked there in the passed as a body guard he knew all the hiding places and secrets about the house.  So he took down a group of 50 all by himself.  And all of the scenes were cool in their own and different ways. One scene that i will remember is when he talks to the Head terrorist on one of his men's walky talky that Gerard butler took from him after he killed him.  He told the lead Terrorist that this was going to end with him putting his knife in his brain, and thats how it ended.  it was a little gruesome but i remember it for some reason.
I would recommend this movie for anyone that likes action movies really but also Gerard Butler fans i don't think i've seen a bad movie with him in it.

  4. Good review, Brian. I actually saw this movie when it came out in theatres and I really liked it. It's your typical good guy saving the day film. As you had mentioned for your key scene, that was my favorite where he had to take down all the north koreans ultimately saving the president of the united states and deactivating the nuke before it launching. The movie was put together well and a few of the beginning scenes had left me stumped, like when the north koreans just randomly jumped off the tour bus and starting opening fire on the white house... Keep up the good reviews, Brian.
