1. My Story is about a heroin drug dealer James Franco who will be played by Sylvester Stallone. He took in Frank Ricci played by John Travolta at a young age and taught him the business of dealing Heroin. Franco is a father figure to Ricci and Franco gives him advice all the time. A little heat is coming on the 2 because they have been successfully dealing heroin in the streets of LA for quite some time. The local police are starting to catch on to their business and are looking to take them down. one day their at a bar and a waitress catches Frank's eye, Molly Mayson who is played by Julie Christie. They hit it off instantly, Ricci trusts her enough to let her in on his real occupation. Franco explains to Ricci he's spent most of his life in this business and its not worth it to make it a career out of it and you need to get out. with pressure coming from Franco, the police, and most importantly molly Frank decides to go out while he's on top and marry molly and live happily ever after. I feel this movie would be effective because in 1975 there was a serious heroin epidemic going on in the United States and people would want to view stuff like that. Also violence and sex always sells so my movie contains both of those elements. there is a hidden meaning in my story that where i think the audience can take something from it, the message is Life is worth more then drugs and money, and the people you surround yourself with is what's going to make you happy. Like how Franco got to realize thats what it's about when he saw frank get out of the business and start a family. and Frank even realized it when he stepped away from the business to get married and start a family
2. as far as genre my movie is an american crime fiction drama, i chose this because these are the types of movies i like and right after watching The Godfather i just kept going with it. it fits in with the time in the United States in 1975 the US was having similar problems my movie characters had to face. and it did effect how i chose my cast and crew because with a genre like that i couldn't go pick wimpy characters i needed to pick ones that looked tough and fierce
3. I Chose John Cassavetes to direct this film because around this time he directed the movie The Killing of a Chinese Bookie and it was similar to the plot of my movie an American crime drama also he has a great history of directing successful movies so thats why i stuck with him. as far as the actors at the time John Travolta was only 21 so i felt he would make a great actor that fit into the role of being a young man working for an older guy where he could look up to him so he fit that role and sylvester stallone is his father figure guiding him threw the business and they are both fierce actors and have that tough look to them so it worked out. For Julie Christie's role i also wanted a tough women where she could handle knowing about the business not like in the Godfather where al Pacino's wife wasn't ok with it and she didn't really belong with that family. But Christie could act the role of a tough women and also she could catch the eye of John travolta and the audience. i chose to focus on costumes and make up i wanted people to feel like this movie is actually what it was like in 1975 in LA.
4.My films rating will be restricted or R. My film contains intense violence, drug abuse, profanity, and alcohol use. All these would meet the criteria for an R rated movie.
5. I like violent drug/gang type films so i just went with it i also combined a couple characteristics of my favorite movies. in the Italian job Mark Whalbergh has a role model he looks up to that tells him he needs to get out of this business and start a family. also in american gangter frank lucas has a mentor that shows him the way. so i just made a movie i'd want to watch
Nice work here, Brian. Good ideas--I think it'd play well in 1975
