"Citizen Kane" response

2) The first draft of the title for Citizen Kane was "The American."  What can we make of this?  In what ways does the movie comment on America or the American Dream?
In Many way "The American" would be an appropriate title for Citizen Kane.  In the early 1900's people came to america because there was an opportunity to make quick and easy money and have a chance at a better life.  i was absent the first day of watching Citizen Kane, so it was hard to catch up on the plot and what was going on.  But what i picked up on was that Mr.Kane was trying to make his newspaper company the best in the world.  this movie seemed alot similar to Scar face. Where they both get ahead and get to greedy an just keep wanting more and more. They keep wanting more in attempt ti fulfill their version of the american dream.  But in the the end it comes back to haunt them  ultimately Tony Montana is murdered and Mr. Kane lives a sad life alone.  All they were trying to do is have the BEST life they could have but money got the best of both of them. and they didnt realize that they lost focus and didnt want the american dream they just wanted money.  And it is typical for an american or new immigrant in that time period to come her for a better life , but once they get caught up in stuff like they do it's easy for their dreams to quickly change
